VIBE-GASM!

i <3 the Vibes. we had our fall jam last night and it was super fun! ok, so i don't have any clue how it went, because i was on a huge adrenaline rush, but it seemed awesome. my mom came up yesterday, and my aunt and uncle came up from westfield for the concert. my uncle kept saying that he was "very impressed", and that it was "a lot better than he was expecting. he wasn't sure that people could sing well without instruments, but he has seen the light. that was pretty cool.
i have some *awesome* friends, by they way, most specifically COX! i love her. she made a big "RROCK IS HOT" sign that she would hold up during the concert. i was also very excited because kidney was sitting next to my mom. thanks for the mad love from baldwin house, especially jenny, who showed up for the last few songs having come straight from a tae kwon do tourney where she got kicked in the nose. she's so fucking hardcore!
after party at C2: honestly, when isn't ther a party at C2? the vocal suspects were so great. their guys were getting all down an dirty with our smithy dykes, and not realizing that they were going to end up blue balled later on. HAHAHA!!
i took a shot of ...water... with my HONS!!!! and then got crazy dancing.
i'm procrastinating like woah. i have an essay due today for goth lit. who the hell assigns a paper on the sunday after two nights of partying? honestly now, what the fuck?

i'm at college, bitches!

my new roommate is in bed with her girlfriend and they're both insisting that i update because i'm funny or something. i moved up to this room with jack, who rocks mys socks, because her roommate sucked ass and my room was depressing. my roommate was totally great, but i had no sun and had to look at Albright all day. now i have the best view in the entire campus! i get full sun in my own window every morning, and can see the whole town, valley, and Holyoke mountain range! it's soooooooo nice! also jack kicks ass. her name is really emily, but i call her jack because there are too many emilys.
i got sexiled last night! now i'm really at college! i stayed at my friend's room watching tommy boy last night instead. i was still buzzing from the awesome(!) pina coladas that i made with Cox last night. everything was about three times as funny. the last time i made pina coladas i was drinking with my grandma and aunts. they let me make them and i put in twice as much rum as necesary. my grandma thought they were really good though, so bonus! anyway, i guess i'll have to keep updating now that i've started, so there will be more, kiddies. also, all of you crazy mph-ers need to come visit me! please?
i love you all

it's the middle of the summer, and though i haven't exactly done anything really great or enriching, i've been enjoying myself. it's a wierd summer, one that i may try to look back on and never find. the weather is unimpressive. not that i'm complaining that i haven't felt disgusting in the sweltering heat that usually marks a summer in syracuse. the current conditions, in fact, leave little to complain about. there in lies the problem, i believe: i am unable to complain about the effects of extreme heat and humidity on my daily routine. maybe i just feel that i should be accomplishing more because i do not have an excuse to lounge in the cool recesses of my house. venturing out for a quick dash to wegmans, where i will be blasted by the frigid processed air, does not seem like a commendable task this summer. i no longer damn the day my car's air conditioner stopped working.

MICE!!!!!

due to the fact that i am now 18, i have recently exercised a newly acquired right: the ability to obtain furry animals at Pet World. That is the one place i have ever been carded. I have been buying lighters for years(which scott once told me he got carded for), but i have consistantly been questioned about my age at that store. It is true that i have always wanted pet mice. when danielle got hers a few months ago it was a bit of a teaser, but i knew that soon i would have new companions. oh yes, it has happened.

My parents were quite conveniently out of town this weekend on a business trip. they sent my brother to my grandma's house so as to avoid coming back to a scene of carnage and mayhem. It was time. my accomplice was Lana, who i caught unaware in the middle of dinner. Petsmart was a bust(a new store, but rather unattractive), as was Petco("new companions coming soon!"). Petworld it was. what is really super about petworld is that they have a sign warning that they cannot garruntee the sex of their animals, nor can they be sure that the animal, if a female, is not pregnant. This sign is conveniently located right next to the cage full of male and female mice, one of which looked like she was going to start popping them out any second. nevertheless, i got two female mice. two because they're social animals, and female so they don't breed or fight.

The tan mouse is named Lucy, and upon close inspection looks like she may be expecting(if anyone wants to reserve a baby now, let me now). The brown one, Fritz, looks remarkably like a wild mouse. This will only serve to accentuate the panic that will set in the moment my mother sees them. she hates mice. I, however, am quite pleased with them, and am looking forward to smuggling them into Smith next year.

summer time

Commencement was good. i already miss MPH, but it was really nice to have my whole class be the center of attention for a day. I was definatly feeling the love on sunday. My aunt and uncle came up from massachusetts, and my grandma came from oswego. for the first time ever steve and i weren't next to each other in alphabetical order. Timo, the german exchange student, broke us up. not a big deal, but it was pointed out that, between him and jeff, i had the two tallest kids next to me. it hasn't hit me yet, but i'll be crying soon. i really love MPH, and especially enjoyed my senior year.

steve and i went party hopping after our relatives cleared out. before i left my parents said they were going to spend the night up at my grandma's house. this was totally unprecedented and kind of surprising. this morning my mom, halfway smiling, asked if i had spent the night anywhere else while they were gone, or had anyone over for the night. no, i was home and asleep by 11, but what the hell was she expecting? and why did she seem to want me to have done something? kinda weird. next time i'll just have an orgy over here, so keep your nights free.

sports awards

i haven't posted in a really long time, sorry. i went to the sports awards ceremony last night. it was really boring. this is usually the case but i think it was more so last night because the frequency with which i had to stand up was definatly under par. i got up there for lacrosse, and that was it. i used to be a fucking three season athlete, what the hell happened? ok, it kinda makes sense when i think about it. i got shinsplints last fall, not to mention the fact that i totally hate cross country. indoor track sucked as usual, and i had the convenient excuse of the musical. but still, i feel lame.

we had the team dinner at emily's house on wednesday, which was a super good time. everybody minus me brought a ton of food so we all ate a lot and got really loud with the talking. emily's parents slipped out and went out for dinner, so it was mrs. fattal with a gazillion girls. did i mention that it was loud? those kids are really a lot of fun, especially the sophomores and 8th graders. we were passing around some prom pictures and there was the one of steve and i(refer to emily's lj). Alexis Simons couldn't figure out why steve was wearing shorts, even though everyone kept telling her it was "a kilt". suddenly understanding was attained(recognizable by a distinct widening of her eyes) and she exclaimed: "OH! a KILT!!! i thought that was his name! i thought he was foriegn." to which rachel glassberg piped up: "jesus, alexis, you're as dumb as rocks!" anyway, that basically sums up the good times on our lacrosse team. i really loved playing this year and i'm totally going to miss it. i love mrs. fattal. she worked wonders for the moral of our team and she's adorable. right cox?

Jack

the spring Chorus concert/ senior recital was last night. I sang Jack. i screwed up twice but i had a grin plastered on my face and people pretended to not notice afterwords. it was a fun concert and i got a flower! afterwords i went to sno top with all of my crazy friends and we were just that: crazy. we stood around eating ice cream and just laughing at stupid shit. it was fun. that was followed by a little rendezvous in St. Mary's cemetary.

today we had a lacrosse scrimmage against onondaga. we lost 14-1. since it was a scrimmage the coach decided to save those of us on the starting team for the game tomorrow and let the newbies play today. Our coach wasn't there, so our captains were left in charge of subbing and placement. Sarah trager threw me up into right attack at one point, which was nuts. i had kinda forgotten what offense is like, i felt a little out of my element after having been groomed for defense this year.

After the game i packed up my stuff at the end of the bench. Rachel Glassberg was with emily godwin, with there sweatshirts on, packing up when, upon deep reflection, she discovered that she "felt like such a lesbian!" Upon hearing this i told her that i, too, shared this feeling.

LACROSSE!!!!

we played our first game today against South Jefferson. It was our first game of the season and it was pretty damn good! ok, so we lost 13-1, but we played really well. during half time th coach reconfigured the defense(including myself) and the only were able to score 3 goals on us during the second half. Pam was our goalie and she did a great job! she blocked some really good shots. the team is great this year. we had 24 people on the bus today, and that wasn't even our full strength. i remember playing in some games last year where we only had two subs. that sucked. Our new coach has really turned the team around.

the flowers that bloom in the spring, tra la

it's so nice out today! ok, so i heard there was a bit of a storm earlier, but now completely makes up for it. and the last few days. it's sunny and pleasently warm. and the best part of all is: SPRING FLOWERS!!!!!!!!! Daffodils! bright yellow daffodils! i went for a walk with my mom just now which really boosted my mood. i was feeling pretty crappy because i haven't really done anything outside in a long time. so we walked down next to the train tracks with my dog. on the way back i noticed a whole bunch of daffodils growing on our land behind the lawn. i picked them and put them in these cute little glass vases from IKEA. why the hell didn't i apply to any colleges in hawaii?

I talked to steve today and i decided to go to prom with him. i think this is a good idea from all angles. A) it's a stylish finish to our 7 year friendship at MPH, B) he won't be going alone, C) he won't feel bad about finding a date because terry can't come(i'm pretty harmless), and D) no ackwardness with regard to Becca. i guess the only problem we face is deciding whose car we'll be driving.

yesterday was j's birthday!

danielle, steve and i went to Dinosaur today, which was excellent. then we went to varius places to find stuff for our pirate costumes. the Pirate themed dance is coming up and steve and i are going to try to be super piraty for the occasion. the plan is to find stuff from salvation army and antique stores and make adjustments to achieve the proper look. the key problem, however, is that syracuse sucks. would somebody like to tell me where the vintage clothing stores are? because i am quite sure there aren't any. Antique Underground died, which was sad, and Boom Babies only has prom shit out. also they're kinda pricey for this kind of project. it may be a good thing, though, in some regards. if we did have a good vintage clothing store i would probably look like sherlock holmes every day, and that might not be a good thing for my social life.

mr. sun

i love this weather. it's not overly warm, but the sun is wonderful. i spent the morning emptying out my car and vacuuming it. my car is happy when it gets cleaned out. i found some cool stuff in it, too. i found my old running shoes, my wool hat with the tassle, and my sunglasses. i also found that i had 7 bottles of motor oil floating around in the back, in addition to the tranny-fluid, washer fluid, and antifreeze. i also found two new wiper blades which was really good because my old ones were screwed up and were scratching my windshield. i think i'm going to wash the car tomorrow and maybe change the oil. i love this weather.

i went over to steve's last night. he's down in new jersey now, visiting his girlfriend. he's super happy. i really wish that i could meet her sometime, but that doesn't seem very likely in the near future. it's kind of wierd talking about her with steve when i don't even know her. i do, however, know what she looks like. i know that very well, actually.

Our lacrosse scrimmage got cancelled yesterday. practice was also cancelled due to some "storm warning". that was dumb because there were no signs of a storm approaching. in fact, it was sunny and nice out when emily and i were tossing a ball around after school. Apparently Mr. Ball is really impressed with the enthusiasm of the team this year. he's letting us order skirts and new jerseys, which will allow us to look like a real team.

I'm going to the coffee pavilion tonight with erin, Katz, and my fan club(AKA andy's girlfriend). I love spring break. not as much as i loved spring break two years ago, but this one should be fun. steve and i are going to scout out new places to get vintage clothing within and 50 mile radius. if anybody knows of places we should check out(other than boom babies) let me know. also, if anyone is having any parties let me know.

holes in my ear

i've got two holes in my ear. i was at rina's house on saturday to watch a mary kate and ashley olsen flik. her mom, remembering that i had mentioned that i might want a piercing during the musical, whipped out her piercing gun and asked if i wanted her to do it. apparently she's a nurse, and some people hvae their ears pierced at the doctor's office. i was a bit surprised, so i said that i didn't have any studs or anything. Never fear! she sent rina to get a couple of studs that just happened to be in the car. ten minutes later i had two earrings in my left ear. i spent the rest of the day poking at them and twisting them around, telling everyone around me that i had two holes in my ear. it was very spontaneous, but i really kind of like them. my mom noticed right away when i got home that night. she wanted to know if the location of the two earrings in my left ear was "significant of anything". in other words: was i broadcasting my sexuallity to everyone around me? i don't think so, but if anyone knows of any earring placement cultural codes, lety me know.

i broke up with becca on sunday. i started feeling wierd about the whole thing. something just wasn't quite right. i didn't want to keep dating her if i wasn't feeling totally ok about things, because that would be dishonest and she trusted me. i waited until after she got back from her audition at towson because i didn't want her to fuck up her college pursuits on my account. i think she's mad at me, which is understandable.

this also means that i need a prom date. i could go with steve, and i may do that. i would prefer, however, to get a girl to go with me. that way i could wear a tux(hey emily, i think i already asked, but may i use your tux?). i really don't want to wear a dress. also, i like dancing with girls better. no offense, steve, i'm sure you agree. if anybody knows of any girls that might want to go with me, please let me know.

Annie (no, not that annie)

i went to see a performance of Annie tonight put on by Cato-Meridian High school. Julia Cutler, my old buddy from circus camp was starring as annie! i coerced lana to go with me, which was fun. Julia was super!
It made me think back to my time with Open Hand Theater. Julia and i were in "Hand in Hand" in eigth grade, when we did our stunning performance of "much is blue about nothing". I played the part of a dirty old man, and Julia was the "gorgeous wench"(as i called her) that i was after. Colin and i fought each other with baguettes over her, and both ended up dead. four years later and he's the one who ended up going out with her(that lucky bastard). it's kind of funny how things turn out.

little one-eyed rabbit

Duncan gave me a stuffed bunny keychain when he came to see the musical. he said it cost his friend ralph fifty cents, and it's missing an eye. that is how i know that it is a truly unique gift that came from the heart. i'm so glad i'lll be marrying him; maybe he'll get me a goat for our engagement.

the math league state meet was alright. it was down in westchester county, which meant that we stayed with host families that were ridiculously wealthy and truly needed random people to stay at their houses to fill them. i felt a little out of place at the meet. in that setting i'm really not all that good at math. example: we were trying to find a game to play friday night and somebody suggested pictionary. everybody had a good laugh at that one because, as i was told, math people can't do art! it's just a rule or something. so i'm sitting there thinking: oh shit! i sure hope they don't find out about that portfolio i sent to colleges. i was a closeted artist! also, i wasn't asian. ok, so this is an awful stereotype, but it's true! they were ALL asian. Rohit pointed out that our onondaga county team was all asian wearing red t-shirts. i might have been able to get past the difference in ethinicity if it weren't for an incident in the lunchroom on saturday. this asian chick at the table next to me had her sandwich open and was eating the tuna with two straws, chopstick style. WIERD!!!

The event redeemed itself because of what happened on the ride home: I SAW KENT'S BLOWFISH FACE!!!!!
also Becca picked me up, which was really sweet. she's going to be my date to the prom, which just happens to coincide with the fact that she's my girlfriend. so now we just have to make sure that Jersey girl comes up to be steve's date and we're all set.

i'm going down to westchester county tomorrow for the math league state meet! you all should come down and support!

i got into wellesley yesterday. i'm five for five, 2 to go.

lacrosse is going rock. hard. the new coach is really good. she actually has played(i know, it's crazy!) and knows how to teach without being annoying. the team seems pretty jazzed up this year. good times. i am incredibly out of shape, it's really bad. tarzan will return!

at school

i'm supposed to be in Advanced Art right now. the problem(and the reason why i haven't done anything in class in the past two weeks) is that my flag project involves welding. This means, also, that good weather is necesary. Problem: this is central new york. so instead i've spent my time figuring out what i'll be doing for my next project. we're putting stuff in suitcases to represent a certain events or period of time in our lives. Ms. Steele made us watch WHITE OLEANDER last class because it had some suitcases in it that stood as an example of what we should do. That woman cracks me up. she kept commenting on the movie, telling us how true it was and how much she could relate to the fucked up mother/murderer character played by michelle pfeifer. i'm going to have my suitcase represent the trip i went on with my parents up the coast to Prince Edward Island when i was five. yes, way back then when i was an only child. the good old days, if you will. for some reason i remember a lot from that trip. I can conjure up entire scenes in my head, complete with sight, smell, and taste. sometimes even temperature.

i talked to annie last night. it was kind of nice because i haven't really had a good chat with her in a while. she used to say that alicia would get mad. but now they're not going out and she's the person i remember again. i'm not going to start anything with her again. i've got a girlfriend. it's just good to know how she's doing and be able to talk to her again about stuff.

it's over, mostly

i'm such a wimp. i was crying because the musical is now over. that may have been due in part to the fact that i'm exhausted. I think that it was probably my greatest accomplishment this year and i want to thank everybody involved for making it such a great first time experience.
it was kind of sad to see how quickly the set came down. i took a chunk of the whorehouse molding to bring to college. i'll be mad pimpin'. oh, speaking of which, i got a letter from smith college today saying that, though they can't officially accept me yet, they are offering me a certain STRIDE scholarship. any of you smithies with nothing better to do than check out my lj, can you tell me what that means beyond the literature they offered?
i slept in this morning and then went over to becca's for a while. after ignoring the phone twice, she finally decided to answer it and it was steve calling from where he was parked in front of her house. he's such a good guy. he had to take the latin club picture and knew i wouldn't want to miss it. i love him so much. i spent most of the rest of the day in mrs. j's room sleeping before going to lacrosse. that was a dumb idea because now i'm tired times two.

it was super fun again! a ton of people came including several alums. there i was: on stage, singing for the opening number and there in front of me dead center was a certain duncan allen-byrnes that we all know and love. he gave me a keychain after the show that i will cherish forever.
Adam's naivete never ceases to amaze me. it is incredible.
i was all excited because i was 4-3 for types of people i've kissed. that's up from the tie i had going after the semiformal and i was finally going to be able to prove to emily that i am not a bad lesbian. i blew it. it's tied again at 4-4. sorry.

tonight was the faculty performance. ok, so it wasn't really opening night, but it was still in front of an audience. It was soooo much fun! i had a blast and i want to thank everyone who came for being a great audience. thank you also for overlooking a certain wig malfunction that did a superb job of reducing our cast to a bunch of giggling idiots. allie, nice job covering that up.
It's hard for me to believe that only yesterday i was in such a crappy mood during the dress rehearsal. i think that was due mostly to me being dumb and stressing WAY too much over a certain new development in the life of rachel. i need to not be such a spaz. at least, not off stage. anyway, thanks for bearing with me.

I dragged emily into school this morning. that would be the very lovely miss emily cox. that was basically my way of showing off to her so she would accept my offer. did it work?

that was pleasant

rehearsal went well today. after sucking yesterday, people got it together for the full run through today. that was good. also there was a lot of food that just kept showing up throughout rehearsal. that made me very happy. the circle of parents that i love is rapidly expanding. i'm very easy: feed me and i will love you.

I got my hair cut tonight after rehearsal. it's about the same length that it was after the ceder creek incident. yeah, the one where i got kind of impulsive and asked my buddy john to cut my hair at the reenactment the night before the battle. that was the time when he kinda screwed up and i ended up having vanessa's mom fix my hair while i sat outside in my shirt sleeves for a really long time. i woke up the next morning with mild hypothermia. to make a long story short, my hair is now about chin length. if the directors want it shorter i'm going to have to go full out dyke, because anything in between and i won't be able to keep it out of my eyes.

becca and i were wandering around the produce section at wegman's yesterday when we came upon a rather unusual fruit. indeed, it was called "unique fruit". It looked like a green grapefruit with a horrible case of syphilis.

guess what week it is!

as you may or may not know, i consider my part in the musical to be my theater debut. as such i have been experiencing a lot of firsts that the theater junkies consider routine. i can now say that i am no longer a theater virgin: i have been raped up the ass by the beginning of hell week.
we crashed today. and burned. and continued to suffer through the run of the first act. nobody knew all of their lines, including me. i managed to fake it pretty well, using the strategy i developed on monday. it's nice to have relatively short lines and no grand monologues. being a slave also has it's perks because a lot of my entrance cues involve somebody screaming my name. others were not so lucky. i can understand why the directors were getting pissed. i cannot understand, however, why they had to get all pissy to vanessa. two weeks ago, when vanessa's boyfriend lost both of his parents, they were really understanding about it. they reassured her that she could stay in the musical even if she could only make two dress rehearsals. that was bullshit. they fucking called her up today and made her come, saying that they might try to find someone else to do her part if she didn't. that's pretty shitty, in my humble opinion. so that was that, they're directors, whatever, but then adam started being an ass. he was pissed because she didn't get there until after all of her scenes with him. he doesn't have a damn clue what he is supposed to do on stage without her so he gets mad at her. yeah, ok adam, is it that hard to moon over a girl? that's all you're doing. why do you need vanessa there? so she can cover up for your incompetence with her superb acting skills? ok, so i'm bitching, but nobody fucks with vanessa. ever. i will personally kick your ass.

oh my pigeon, where art thou?

four of my pigeons have died in less than a year. my first baby pigeon, earnest, died of some sort of birth defect. his mother, abigail, died from egg binding. this winter my pair(this time with a new female, louise) decided to get busy and produced elliot. he mysteriously dissapeared. so my birds did some more hanky-panky and had another baby, simon, before roosting yet again and laying two eggs. today i came home and found that simon(who was still unable to fly) and one of the eggs was missing from the coop, and a broken egg was near the door. wtf, mate! my stupid-ass birds don't have the sensibility to take care of the babies they have and keep losing them to some unknown force. if you know of anybody who has suddenly acquired a couple of very fine young white pigeons, please let me know.

rehearsal was interesting today. we ran the second act, and i didn't know any of my lines. i discovered that i was able to memorize very quickly in the minutes here and there that i had in the various houses before coming back on stage. i have to get my hair cut soon so they can fuss and realize that it is a lot harder to conceal than they had thought. they think if i take off a few inches i will be able to hide it under a little cap. haha, no chance.

Much in the style of fractal, my regiment has started a forum online.

http://the12thus.com/12th_forum/

yeah, we're awsome. and yes, i'm buglerblake, for reasons that should be obvious

I was going to go to oswego to see a play last night. it was some ray bradbury thing under the direction of mark cole. he's fucking awsome! anytime you read something about a performance at SUNY oswego you should go. they're surprisingly good for a college that is offensively ugly and cold all year long. anyway, my dad was going to go to some concert in oswego at the same time, and offered to drive up me there. it was then, to my relief, that i realized i will never grow up and be a lonely bachelor. i don't like going to the theater by myself.

I saw the musical at JD on friday, thanks to rina, who had an extra ticket. They did "Titanic". It was very impressive. ok, so the theme was kind of lame, but it was really well done. they had rooms that they could roll on and off stage that where the size of our stage. aarlo was super. he's emily's friend, and i knew what he looked like so i introduced myself after the show and thanked him for a wonderful performance. he is quite the gentleman.
